Allison's Grave

Posted by HOPPS on October 11, 2009 at 10:12 PM

Our group did an investigation of Allison's grave last night, with the permission of the landowner.  According to her, we are the first to ever ask permission and perhaps why she didn't let the Doberman out to chase us away during the investigation.  First of all, the graveyard is on private property.  Second, it's very small -perhaps 90x120 ft.  Third, it appears this "Allison" story may be in error.  The marker which everyone claims to be Allison's is actually a family plot marker for the last name Allison.  There is no full name, date of birth or date of death on the rather large stone (which also lends us to believe it is a family marker, not an individual one).  Also, in all the writings on the internet, there seems to be something missing that is very important to an investigation - First and last name.  If Allison was her last name, then where the heck is she and what was her first name?  The landowner has more problems with kids partying and vandalizing the place than anything else.  She never even heard of any hauntings in the graveyard according to our researcher (Carl) and his contact with the owner.  I'm still doing analysis, but can tell you this is a most peaceful cemetery if you're intelligent and look at everything for what it really is.  I even took my worst vehicle, the one with transmission problems, in hopes that the rumor of car problems would rear it's ugly head and the transmission would fail.  It didn't even slip once going up the hill to the owner's house, and worked perfectly on the trip home as well.  Well, so much for that rumor.  We heard one strange noise all night and of course we were all startled.  My belief and Chris' belief is it was probably a buck snorting in the woods nearby (afterall, it is the beginning of rutting season).  As far as anything in the cemetery itself, nothing to note so far, but keep posted as analysis should be done of the video, audio and pictures by this Friday.  Worst thing about the cemetery, it was damp and cold last night.  More to follow.........

Dust, as they were not visible to the naked eye. I know it was cold and damp that night, but cameras are affected by moisture as well. We were walking around and just lint from us moving around is enough to show up in a picture.

I am the step-granddaughter of Edna Allison and I would really like to know where you get your information....the Family headstone is there but Edna is the only one buried there....since so many people kept stealing her headstone and the police would call my father and he would have to go pick it up...he decided to just put a really BIG stone there...it is not actually on the spot of her grave for a good reason....
I have lived with the stories all my life.
Oh, I now live in South Dakota

Patty, our researcher, Miranda contacted the family directly. Her son lives in Virginia and, of course, her grandson is a local businessman in Williamsport. Miranda is a county geneologist, and as such, has access to records most of us would have a hard time finding. Since she consulted with both Edna's son and grandson on this matter, I'm sure she's got her facts straight. Edna is not buried at all, she was cremated according to county records and by accounts of her son and grandson. We did this investigation in hopes of finding paranormal activity. We did not find any. Our next step was to research the story and contact the family to see if they wanted to talk about this legend. Ultimately, with the publication of this story , we hope people will stop spreading this myth of the woman wandering around in the cemetery. This, in turn, will perhaps stop the vandalism that goes on there and finally let the woman (Edna) truly rest in peace.

I am so sorry, that this disturbed you. All we wanted was the truth. So people will let her rest and that they would leave the people alone, that live around there. I did speak to the son. Lives in Maryland, I think, have to look at my records. I can get a revision out into the paper, if you contact me and let me know what you know is wrong, with the evidence I collected.

Thanks Miranda (gravehunter478@gmail.com)

Well, we finally got the mystery solved as to why Patty was critical of our research. She just happened to post her comment on the same day our article appeared in the Sun Gazette, but the article she was referring to was one from another paper published back in October. That had nothing to do with our group (our article appeared simulataneously in the same paper on the same day) and was about the local legends only. She has confirmed what we had in the Sunday paper and on our website is correct to the best of her knowledge. I'm thankful this was clearly just a misunderstanding and Patty now has the straight scoop about what we do.

It's been awhile since I've been on here, working in retail at Christmas time kinda steals everything in your world....I just wanted to say I think it's wonderful how all of you spent so much effort on the "Allison" story. Until now I felt fear about possibly going back and looking into what I experienced in my past and now I am excitied to start understanding it and hope to dive into after the busy season. Thank You
