Here's a list of Sony cameras we consider suitable for night time work.  Sony is the only manufacturer who currently makes true IR camcorders that I am aware of.  Try to avoid models with Super Nightshot, and those manufactured after Aug 1998, due to changes in how the camera actually operates in nightshot mode.  From Aug 1998 until Dec 1998 the CCD was modified and the quality went down.  After Dec 1998, everything is controlled by shutter and internal adjustments leaving you with less than optimum quality in true 0 Lux settings.  This list is the best I have to date, but I also included some of the other models manufactured after Dec 1998 so you'll have a wider variety to choose from.  Ours are mostly TRV-37, TRV-43, TRV-57, and TRV-67 models due to personal preference and experience.
